Every December, I look back and see what my most popular posts and recipes were for the year. I especially enjoy watching the numbers around holidays. I like to see what recipes other families are making for their own celebrations.
This year for my “best of” post, I’m going to highlight the top 10 most popular posts for the year. Some posts are very old, others are new, but these are the recipes and tips that resonated with you for the year 2019.
Number 10: Oreo Brownie Trifle
Oreo Brownie Trifle is such an easy dessert and it’s layers of flavors that everyone loves. It pops up around every holiday, because bringing a trifle is a great way to feed a crowd. Plus, who doesn’t like Oreos?
Number 9: How to Make Fluffy White Rice in the Crockpot Express
You’re going to see a lot of posts in this list that feature the Crockpot Express. Ever since I got my multi-cooker a few years ago for Christmas, it’s been the star of the show around here. As you can see in this post about How to Make Fluffy White Rice, it’s replaced my rice cooker (and slow cooker, and stove-top pressure cooker, and yogurt maker…)
Number 8: How to Cook Hot Dogs for a Crowd
Got a birthday party coming up? Class picnic or work event with no grill available? Believe it or not, you can make hot dogs in the slow cooker! They steam nicely and stay warm until you’re ready to serve them up. We have done this several times for parties and youth group fundraisers. It’s so much easier on everyone involved!
Number 7: Meal Planning Made Easy
This post about creating a reusable meal planning binder is SUPER old. A friend of mine was talking about this great system she used for her menu planning and so I asked her write about it and send me some pictures. Now, every January, it gets very popular. I guess we aren’t the only ones who try to get control of something that takes such a HUGE chunk of our time as moms!
Number 6: Crockpot Express Recipes
This next one isn’t a specific post. Instead, it’s a page called Crockpot Express Recipes where I keep lots of information about the Crockpot Express as well as an updated list of all my recipes. It’s got tips and tricks for using the CPE and recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert!
Number 5: Crockpot Express Hard Boiled Eggs
After I failed miserable trying to make macaroni and cheese in my fancy new pressure cooker, I switched to something easier: Crockpot Express Hard Boiled Eggs. I’m telling you, making eggs this way was life changing. You’ll never have any easier to peel egg. It’s amazing!
Number 4: Heavy Duty Floor Cleaner
This handy little floor cleaner mixture is perfect for getting the gunk off tile floors. It’s great for kitchens and bathrooms. I originally used it to get that “boy smell” out of the bathroom. Working it into the grout really seemed to help.
Number 3: Rhodes Roll Monkey Bread
This recipe skyrocketed in popularity this year! The fluffy chunks of bread covered in sticky goodness are perfect for holiday breakfasts. I’ve never been a fan of traditional monkey bread because it’s so dry and a bit bland. But Rhodes Roll Monkey Bread is just so much better.
Number 2: Crockpot Express E6 Error Code
Why is it that when we get something new, we often just dive right in without reading the instructions or doing some research? The E6 Error Code is the most common one to pop up when using the Crockpot Express, so this post describing what it means and how to fix it is a pretty popular one. At least we’re all in it together, right?
Number 1: Pink Punch and Blue Punch: easy baby shower recipes
Having babies never goes out of style and it’s “in season” all year long. 🙂 That’s why this post has been my #1 post since I first wrote it back in 2013. The punch recipes (one blue and one pink) are both easy and delicious. I’ve also used the blue punch recipe for a few themed birthday parties over the years!
Well, that’s it! The top 10 recipes and posts on Simple and Seasonal for 2019. Thanks for being a loyal reader. Now on we go to 2020!
