Be the hero of your next family gathering with this delicious OREO Brownie Trifle! Fudgy brownies, creamy pudding and Oreo cookies layer beautifully and they taste even better!
We were invited to some friends’ house for dinner and I volunteered to bring dessert. I like dessert. Dessert is my favorite. I asked Judy what they would like and she wanted something like the OREO Dirt Cake I’ve made in the past. I wanted to do something new, so I went to my Desserts board on Pinterest and found inspiration for this OREO Brownie Trifle. Trifles are easy to put together, look pretty, and this one is extra kid-friendly!
This recipe starts with brownies, and then you build layers of cream cheese and pudding mixture, along with whipped topping.
After you mix the ingredients together, just layer them up in a bowl for an easy dessert with great presentation! You get the wow factor without putting in too much effort.
Start with brownies, then add the chocolate pudding mixture, then chopped Oreo cookies, and finally whipped topping. Repeat until you can’t add any more goodness to the bowl! 😀
If you don’t want to heat up the house while baking brownies, you could always purchase them from your grocery store bakery. It would certainly make this a very quick dessert to put together.
I baked the brownies for mine because I found a mocha fudge brownie mix that sounded like it would be great with the chocolate and OREOs (it was.)
If you like chocolate and mint together, you’ll love this Mint Brownie Trifle that I made for St. Patrick’s Day! If you change up the toppings, you can use it any time of the year.

I’m glad you loved it! It’s a favorite around here too ๐

Can we use Mason jars to do individual ones
Nicole Burkholder says
You certainly could! I think thatโs a great idea. Just make the different layers and then add to the jars instead of one big bowl. Yum!
Sharlene says
This sounds super yummy. I think I am going to try it. I am just going to replace the instant pudding for the cook and serve. I like the taste better. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Pinned !๐

My trifle bowl was not big enough ugh so I garnished the top with extra brownies and Oreo crumbs it looks delish can’t wait to eat it thank you
Nicole Burkholder says
Sorry your bowl was too small! (But the topping sounds yummy!) ๐ Hope you enjoyed it!
Abby L says
What size trifle pan should be used for this??
Nicole Burkholder says
I used a standard trifle bowl- it’s about the size of a small dinner plate around and 6-8 inches tall (deep). I know that’s not exactly scientific ๐ You can also do individual servings in jars or cups if you don’t have a large bowl. Trifle bowls just make it look pretty!
Enriquea says
Can you make this much in advance of eat time? Will oreo’s get mushy?
Nicole Burkholder says
I LOVE this kind of dessert the next day. It’s a lot like an icebox cake. The Oreos will get soft but they don’t turn to mush or anything. I would make it the morning of the day you’re going to serve it and just keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. The best part of a trifle is all those layers coming together ๐
Isabel says
Why use cool whip and not real whipped cream. All I can see is maybe a few calories saved but thick hand whipped heavy cream would make this awesome. You could also make a chocolate custard instead of the pudding but both are probably similar
Nicole Burkholder says
Unless you stabilize real whipped cream, it will turn into mush very quickly. I keep a trifle in the refrigerator, but once you pull it out to serve it, it’s a race to keep the whipping cream cold. I’ve made that mistake in the past. ๐ I LOVE real whipped cream, but for a trifle, it’s not super practical. Chocolate custard sounds delicious, too!
