The other day, my middle son asked me, “What’s the football team with the upside down “U” on their helmets? They are blue and white.” I told him he was probably talking about Indianapolis. He thought for a minute and then said, “How much LONGER until football is on TV again? I’m starting to forget everything!” 🙂 He and his daddy are two peas in a pod when it comes to sports. These Cheesy Sliders are perfect for watching a football game at home or tailgating. And thankfully, it won’t be much longer until we can start doing just that!
I saw a pin for these, but the link was bad, so the only info I could get was from the brief description: hamburger, sausage and Velveeta. So I took upon myself to solve the mystery of these tasty looking little sliders. Here’s what I came up with tonight:
Day 349: Cheesy Sliders
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 8 ounces Velveeta cheese cubed
- 1 tbsp seasoning salt
- Pepper to taste
- Dozen slider buns dinner rolls, sweet rolls- whatever floats your boat ๐
Instructions
- Brown meat and onion in large skillet. Drain. Add cheese and cook on low until melted and mixed together thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper. Scoop onto rolls and enjoy!
I’ve also added about 4 oz of cream cheese to the mixture for a little extra creaminess and substance. The last time I made them, I left it out and they still tasted great. I personally prefer less sausage and more ground beef or turkey, so adjust to your own taste preferences. It’s easy to change up the flavors by adding BBQ sauce, Sriracha sauce or even a creamy jalapeno sauce on top! Have fun and play around with what sounds good or just eat them as simple cheesy sliders!
If you don’t want to buy Velveeta, you can make it at home instead! It tastes great, melts in creamy deliciousness and is much better for you, too!

I love this recipe you came up with, and I think they are perfect for football season also! We are having a Super Bowl Eats and Treats Linky Party, and I’d love if you would link this, or any other recipe that says “Super Bowl” to you! It can be appetizers, desserts, parties, crafts, sandwiches, anything and as many, as you want. We would love to have you! http://bit.ly/Lvc0q2

I have never heard of these, but seriously need them in my life. They sound so good – plus my husband will just love that I am combining pork and beef. He loves meat! The recipes you share rock, so glad to have you linking up at #GetHimFed Fridays!

Thanks for letting me link up a few! Some of them are older posts, but they fall into the category of “man food” so I figured it was OK ๐

Sounds great! I make a similar mix but it doesn’t have sausage or cream cheese in it.. definitely have to try yours now ๐ Thanks so much for sharing this with us at the Weekend Wonders Party!! Hope you have a great day!

Thanks for hosting! I prefer more hamburger/less sausage, but my husband likes sausage so I kept it half and half. The leftovers made AWESOME breakfast burritos!

Thanks for the love ๐ And yes, I’ll start again, but I won’t be pushing myself to post every single day anymore. ๐ I need a break! I will stick with Pinterest pins but drop it down to 4 days a week, probably. I’m still debating how to title my posts. Year 2: Blah blah blah, or just drop it altogether. I’ve started working on my post for day 365 already because I just don’t know what I’m going to say/which direction to go yet! ๐ Glad to have you!
