Chocolate stuffed strawberries are a fun little treat that only need 3 ingredients. They’re super easy to make and perfect for sharing-or keeping all to yourself.
Everyone loves chocolate and strawberries together, and this is by far the easiest way to make and eat them. Plus, transporting them in an egg carton is perfect for picnics!
3 ingredients needed for Chocolate Stuffed Strawberries:
- fresh strawberries-the really big ones are easier to fill, but the smaller ones usually taste better
- dark chocolate chips-you can use any kind of chocolate you like, but I prefer dark chocolate for this filling
- heavy cream-this helps melt the chocolate smoothly and turns that filling into a soft ganache, rather than a hard chunk of chocolate in the middle of the strawberries
Instructions
Start by washing the strawberries and then neatly slicing off the tops. Don’t cut too much off the top because you want to save as much berry as you can.
Using a small paring knife, hollow out the center of each berry to make room for the chocolate filling.
In 20-30 second bursts, microwave the chocolate chips and heavy cream and stir thoroughly to combine. Once the chocolate is mostly melted, just keep stirring until it’s smooth. You shouldn’t really need more than one or two times in the microwave.
Stand up the hollowed out strawberries in an egg carton and fill each one with the melted chocolate. I used a baby spoon because it was the perfect size, but you can use anything handy.
Place the filled strawberries in the refrigerator (still in the egg carton) to let the chocolate filling harden. You can then transfer the chocolate stuffed strawberries to a plate for serving or keep them in a carton for transporting.
If you want to add a little something extra, try dipping the tops in graham cracker crumbs or sprinkles! For more recipes using fresh strawberries, check these out:
