Everyone loves chocolate and strawberries together, and this is by far the easiest way to make and eat them, I think. I made these chocolate filled strawberries for a class activity and they were a big hit. Easy to make, easy to eat, and easy to transport to a picnic, thanks to Lily Shop’s great idea of putting them in an egg carton!
Chocolate Filled Strawberries
I cut off the tops of the berries with a paring knife and scooped out the insides without taking away too much strawberry goodness. Next, I melted dark chocolate chips in the microwave with a little heavy cream. Then I just spooned the chocolate into each berry with a baby spoon and stuck the strawberry in the egg carton. This keeps the berries upright while the chocolate hardens. You can take them out for better presentation later, but I left mine in the carton because I was taking them to a picnic and didn’t want dishes to deal with later. Just pop into the fridge for a few minutes and you have a delicious strawberry with a “nugget” of chocolate goodness inside! If you want to add a little something, try dipping the tops (before the chocolate hardens) in graham cracker crumbs or sprinkles. You could customize the colors for any theme. Just try not to eat them all before you get where you’re going. 🙂
So let’s go on a picnic, a virtual picnic that is! Enjoy yourself as you visit each of these great sites as they have something good for you to enjoy during our picnic!
