Right now, the stores are full of candy corn, candy pumpkins, every size and shape of chocolate candy bar and buckets of bulk candy. In a couple of weeks, about half of that candy is going to find its way to your house!
The last candy to go from our trick-or-treating buckets is the malted milk balls. I’m not sure why, because they are actually quite good! They were always my mom’s favorite when we were growing up.
But my kids are not huge fans so I came up with a tasty way to use them up: Malted Milk Ball Chocolate Milkshakes!
Our favorite grocery store, Winco, has a fantastic bulk section. I found these giant malt balls there and I knew they would be perfect for this milkshake.
I actually purchased a bunch of them last week, but I had to go back and buy more because we ate them all before I could make milkshakes with them. Oops. 🙂
I should have learned that lesson already, because we went through two gallons of chocolate milk and I STILL had to go out and buy another quart of it just so I could put this milkshake together!
Ingredients for Malted Milk Ball Chocolate Milkshake
- chocolate milk-the creamier and thicker, the better!
- malted milk balls-this is a great way to use up leftover Halloween candy!
- vanilla ice cream
- whipped cream and extra candy for topping
Add the milk, candy and ice cream to the blender in that order, and blend on high until smooth. Top with whipped cream and crushed candy and serve immediately!

It was quite good I had to put my glass in the freezer for a few minutes cause my ice cream melted but that’s my fault

So fun. We make a lot of milkshakes here for the little ones. This might just make it into rotation.

I can’t believe the malted milk balls are the last to go! Those are one of my favorites! Your milkshake looks awesome. I do like TruMoo…I often buy the chocolate milk for the car ride home after soccer practice.

Thank you! And it’s “healthy” since there’s so much calcium and potassium in TruMoo, right? ๐ Just ignore the candy and ice cream ๐
