It’s starting to get hot around here and my kids have been begging to go swimming at Grandma and Grandpa’s house every day. Even though it’s warm during the day, it’s still cool at night and I know that the pool is going to be cold. I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to cold water. 🙂 Enter the splash pad. More and more of these have been popping up around cities as an alternative to community pools, and I love them! They are a perfect playdate activity because the kids can get wet and the moms can stay dry in the shade while we chat! Last week a group of us got together to let the kids play and then have a pizza party afterwards.
While shopping at Wal-mart, I saw new DiGiorno’s Design-a-Pizza kits in the freezer section. I figured they would be perfect for a playdate lunch with so many kids. Because, as every mom knows, 1 child=3 opinions, 2 children=8 opinions and 5 children=12 opinions and a high probability of crying involved in the decision-making process. With these new pizzas, everyone can make their own.
When the kids were thoroughly water-logged, we packed up and headed over to the lovely Kara’s house (there you go, Kara, consider yourself famous-literally TENS of people now know your name) to create, cook and devour our pizzas. I got Pepperoni & Sausage with Peppers; Chicken, Green Peppers and Red Onion and Spinach, Tomato and Red Onion with Pepperoni. I wasn’t sure if any of the kids would do something other than cheese and pepperoni, but they actually got quite creative and made some colorful pizzas.
Just look at that concentration!
When the kids were done putting ALL the toppings on the same two slices of pizza, I created my own slice to enjoy. I chose chicken, spinach, onions and peppers with some extra cheese and seasonings. Twenty minutes later, we were ready to dig into our own creations!
Do you get together with a group of friends for playdates? What’s your favorite activity to do with a group of kids?
