I’ve been posting a lot of recipes lately, so I thought I would tackle one of my projects today. I guess now that I’m trying to be a “real” blogger I should have some sort of blogging schedule other than “make sure you get a pin done every day.” Maybe that will be tomorrow’s project. 🙂 So, the question is, just how many different ways can you use an IKEA spice rack? Aside from the obvious kitchen use, there’s the popular children’s book shelves and now, toiletry shelves! I’d love to hear any other ideas you’ve seen or done yourself using these versatile little guys! At only $3.99 each, you can’t go wrong!
I had to laugh at myself as I hung these stupid things. Of course, they have two holes, which every woman’s worst nightmare when it comes to home decor. I was so proud of myself when I started out, too. I remembered to get drywall screws, and I even used a tape measure, which I really never bother to use. I measured how high I wanted the top shelf to go and made sure there was room under it for the bottom shelf as well as enough space between to be able to get things in and out easily. I measured, re-measured, marked and then committed. Of course, I had only problems from the get-go. I was short one drywall screw to begin with-I’m sure we have more somewhere, but I figured we could do without. Then when I was putting another one in the wall, it broke in half. I left it in there and used it anyway. My top shelf somehow was 1/8″ off-just enough to make it impossible to hang. So much for only one hole in the wall. I did manage to get the bottom shelf in without too much drama.
Somewhere in the middle of all this, my husband called and wanted to Face Time with me. I answered, but I shouldn’t have 🙂 I was frustrated and rushing so I could get this post done before it gets too late, and I may have been a bit short with him. So much for proving my She-ra “ness” to myself! (If you were born after 1985 or so, you may need to Google that) 🙂 So now I have nice shelves (one that may need some fixing but NOT by me) and a blog post, but I need to call and make nice with my husband.
Have you used these anywhere around your house? Hopefully not to the detriment of your marriage! 🙂 Please share in the comments below!

Your welcome 🙂 I was pleased with myself as I used it this morning-so much easier than digging through drawers or under the sink!
