I find Sundays to be the hardest when it comes to keeping up with this blog. Probably because they are such a busy day, and the afternoons are already short. Spending time on the computer is not high on my list of priorities. But, I’ve been keeping up so far, and I’d hate to miss a day when I’ve made it into the second month already! So today’s “pin” is another tip I’m pinning myself.
A friend of mine was watching a video I posted on Facebook of my boys in the car, and she noticed the hanging toy I had in there for Charlie. She said, “Hey, that’s a great idea! You should pin that!” so here I am. It really is no big deal. When your baby is in the car seat that comes off the base, there’s a handy place to hang all those baby toys to keep them happy in the car. But when they get a little older and switch to a regular car seat (still rear-facing) they no longer have all those handy little toys to keep them occupied. And really, they’ve finally reached the age when they actually can play with those toys instead of just look at them. So your options are either listen to them fuss, or try to hand them toys while you’re driving. Which, of course, means you are immediately trying to pick them up off the floor of the car while you’re driving. Babies think that game is the best.
I just used a bunch of those baby rings that snap together and hung a favorite toy from the handles that stick out of the roof of the car. You know, the ones you hang on to for dear life when someone is driving like a maniac. Ours retract into the roof of the car, so it’s an added benefit. If Charlie pulls hard enough, the toy will come even closer, and when he lets go, it bounces back a little. I’ll switch toys every couple months to keep him interested. He really likes it, and I like driving in peace!
