Whew!!! I’m exhausted! We tried to cram an entire weekend’s worth of yard work into one day. I didn’t get everything accomplished just yet (you should see my ridiculous list), but I did get to try out this idea I saw on Pinterest.
The photo over on Just Imagine had a total of 5 flower pots, but I couldn’t find 5 that were in graduated sizes without going way over budget, so I settled for three. This arrangement took 2 six-packs of Alyysum, 3 Pansies and 1 Petunia. And here’s my “tip” for the day: use cut up plastic bottles and landscape rocks to fill the bottom of the pots. (I’m sure I saw that somewhere on Pinterest and it is not an original idea) This will keep the soil aerated and promote good drainage. Using the plastic bottles keeps the pots from getting so heavy you can’t lift them. An added bonus is you save on potting soil! Oh, and unlike the photo idea from Just Imagine, I didn’t use a dowel rod to hold the pots together. They sit nestled tightly on their own. Perhaps if you choose to go higher, you would benefit from that added step. Enjoy this little taste of Spring in beautiful Southern California! 🙂
