1cuppineapple juice(reserved from earlier)
3/4cupsugar
2eggs
2Tbspflour
1tbsplemon juice
1/4cupchopped nutspecans or walnuts
Instructions
Mix the jello according to package directions and carefully pour into a large trifle bowl. Chill until almost set. (about 2-3 hours)
1 box (6 oz.) orange Jell-o mix
Strain the pineapple, setting aside the juice for later. Stir the pineapple into the orange jello mixture and return to the refrigerator to set completely.
20 oz crushed pineapple
Fold together whipped topping (Cool Whip or Dream Whip) and softened cream cheese. Add to top of the set jello layer. Return to the refrigerator.
16 oz whipped topping, 8 oz cream cheese
Beat together pineapple juice, lemon juice, eggs, sugar, and flour. Cook over low heat, stirring continuously, until thick-about 5 minutes. Chill.
1 cup pineapple juice, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 2 Tbsp flour
Once the custard is cool, spread over the cream cheese layer and sprinkle with nuts. Keep refrigerated.
1/4 cup chopped nuts
Notes
Be sure to continuously stir the custard while you are cooking it (over low heat always) or you'll end up with scorch custard and scrambled eggs. Make sure each layer is completely cooled before adding the next one.If making the day before, wait to add the nuts on top until just before serving. You can make this in a 9x13 pan if desired for easy slicing and serving. (I just think a trifle bowl is much prettier)
